Der Maibaum (The Maypole)

The Maibaum festival is the raising of the Maypole. It's a celebration of traditions from the neighbourhood with the various traditional shops and businesses displayed on the pole.

It's a very long straight tree painted with the Bavarian colours blue and white.

Of course another perfect excuse for "umpah" band music and beer drinking.
